I made my first perfume at five years old. It was a simple potion, containing just camelia flowers and water, that I delivered proudly to my grandma. Surely she dumped it down the sink, but nevertheless, that was my first exploration into the world of perfume.

My love for scent has remained, but how I used this love changed over the years. In my adult life, I have focused on making spirits, like gin and whiskey. Their chemical complexity has always intrigued my scientific side, but the romance of the aroma and taste has only deepened my love story for this spirited world.

It was a serendipitous re-introduction to perfume while teaching a gin class that has brought me to Duality. While prepping to teach about the vastness of botanicals in gin, my eyes locked with a perfume handbook and my curiosity was piqued. Ever since that small but monumental moment, I have looked for ways in which those worlds collide in ways that are organic. In ways in which my childlike and scientific curiosity were slaked.

From there, Duality was born. It represents myself and the very duality of my personality, where both science and creative merge. Duality’s first releases, Genesis and The Close, are just the beginning (and the end).
